Ayurveda and Healthy Eating: Avoid Foods with Pesticides

"Given a choice, how many consumers do you think would go into a restaurant and order a side dish of pesticide with their meal? Obviously no one would, and yet that is what happens every day. It not only happens at restau- rants but in almost every home. Pesticides are in our children's breakfasts, lunches and dinners and even in the water. The toxic health challenges of these chemicals are well documented, yet economic concerns and lobbying by the pesticide and food industry have prevented their removal from all foods. What can you do? Shop at your local health food store or Co-op and buy organic. It may cost a little more but isn't your health worth the extra expense? Want to save money to make up the difference? Go out for one or two fewer meals each month or buy fewer coffee drinks in cafes. It's a matter of priorities."
